Overview

Intervention

To address both her addiction and legal situation, we collaborated with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to enroll Pamela in a long-term drug treatment program. This program lasted for 12 months and aimed to provide her with the necessary support to overcome her substance abuse problem.

Outcome

Significant Reductions

Pamela thrived in the treatment program, leading to a substantial reduction in her sentencing guidelines. The probation department reduced her guidelines by three tiers, bringing them down to 97 to 121 months. Ultimately, the judge sentenced her to 85 months in prison.

In an unprecedented decision for our cases, the judge also granted Pamela the full 24 months of halfway house time or home confinement. This ruling effectively mandated that the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) release her from prison two years earlier than initially anticipated.

Results

Time Served & Release

As a result of these interventions and favorable rulings, Pamela will serve approximately 40 months instead of facing up to 168 months. This case exemplifies how effective rehabilitation programs can lead to significant reductions in sentencing and improve outcomes for individuals struggling with addiction.

Conclusion:

Pamela R.’s case highlights the importance of addressing underlying issues such as substance abuse in legal situations, demonstrating that rehabilitation can lead to more lenient sentences and better reintegration into society.

"When I was facing over 13 years in prison with no chance of pre-trial release, I felt completely hopeless. My family reached out to Early Release Prison Consultants, and they immediately took action—not just on my legal case, but on getting me the help I truly needed.

They enrolled me in a year-long treatment program through SAMHSA, which changed everything. Because of my progress, my sentencing guidelines were lowered, and I was ultimately sentenced to 85 months. Even more incredibly, the judge granted me 24 months of halfway house time—something I never expected.

Thanks to their support, I’ll serve less than 40 months total. They gave me a second chance—and the tools to rebuild my life."
