Jose G's Sentence Reduction and Transfer

Consulting Services Provided

Background & Concerns
Jose G was serving a 165-month sentence for cocaine distribution. He reached out to our consulting service with two main concerns:
-
Security Concerns: He believed he was eligible for placement in a lower-security prison rather than the medium-security facility where he was currently held.
-
Getting a Fair Judgment: He felt that his sentence was excessively harsh.
Case Review and Petition
Upon reviewing Jose’s case and criminal history, we identified grounds for a potential sentence reduction. We determined that Jose had been unfairly placed in a higher sentencing range due to being on probation for a previous charge. To address this, we petitioned the court for a sentence reduction based on Amendment 821 (A).
Outcome of the Petition
After careful consideration, the judge agreed with our argument and reduced Jose’s sentence by 17 months. This significant reduction not only shortened his time in prison but also opened up opportunities for him.
Outcome
Transfer to Minimum Security Camp
Following the successful petition, we contacted the Western Region representative of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Our efforts resulted in Jose being designated to a minimum security camp to serve out the remainder of his sentence.

Educational Achievement & Release
While at the minimum security camp, Jose took advantage of educational programs and successfully completed his GED. His journey culminated in his release in January 2025.
Conclusion:
This case highlights how effective legal representation and advocacy can lead to significant changes in an inmate’s circumstances, including sentence reductions and transfers to lower security facilities.
"When I reached out to Early Release Prison Consultants, I was serving a 165-month sentence in a medium-security facility and felt my sentence was harsher than it should’ve been. Their team quickly found an error in how my sentence was calculated and filed a petition under Amendment 821 (A). Thanks to their work, the judge reduced my sentence by 17 months.
They also helped get me transferred to a minimum-security camp, where I completed my GED and prepared for life after prison. I was released in January 2025—earlier and in a much better position. Their support made all the difference."
